Start a new year and also a new cycling course! Riding can never be boring, especially if there are many promising sportsmen performing. Here we collected a list of five cyclists to watch out for in 2023.
Hasn’t Tadej Pogacar become the best yet?
It’s evident that this cycling athlete has won the hearts of many bike lovers all around the world. The two-time Tour de France champion is looking forward to his new season as a professional, not only with the Grand Tours as his main targets but also with an attractive classics calendar, in which he has included the Tour de France too.
The Slovenian already has lots of cycling achievements, but he is very young and will be looking a priori for the third in the prestigious Belgian competition.
Time to compete with Primoz Roglic
Roglic is a great rival of Pogacar on the big cycling trips and is a promising young biker too. He is looking forward to 2023 as a three-time Vuelta champion and has more than 60 victories as a professional.
He has not yet announced details of his competitive cycling schedule, confirming only his presence at the upcoming Tour de France. A race that he has not yet won and that will remain the greatest desire of the Jumbo-Visma riding leader.
Mathieu van der Poel – the third guy to mention
It’s obvious the Dutch champion will try to fight for the prizes. Poel may also perform in Milan-San Remo, Flanders or Paris-Roubaix.
The Alpecin-Fenix leader has announced he will again combine cyclocross, road cycling and mountain biking in one season, as he did before.
Wout Van Aert appears at the cycling top
Aert is a great multifunctional peloton rider. He is the one who is able to focus one hundred percent on the road. Wout Van Aert is good in classics, so he will surely participate in the Tour and try to mark himself as the world cycling champion at the Australian Road Worlds.
Last but not least – Thomas Pidcock
Wins at Arrow Brabanzona and his podium at the Amstel Gold Race or Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne make Thomas Pidcock a cycling athlete to be reckoned with in the spring riding classics. He has also added the Giro di Italia to his program already, where the athlete will try to win a stage.
Is it all? Can be more interesting and promising guys?
That’s just a short list of the athletes we think are the first to be pointed out. But there are many other cyclists to mind, like Julian Alaphilippe, Jonas Vingegaard, Enric Mas, Egan Bernal, and so on.
